by Principle Actress Vanessa Hudgens and Actor Zac Efron of Disney Academy of Performing Arts, class of 2005.
One of my favourite musical songs.
Disney's performing arts school in Orlando FL was one of my dream places to study, but was totally rejected by my family and my then girlfriend. Most people say performing arts can't earn money, and don't really have much future, but still some people have to do it right? Like the people who clean the streets and empty the bins, althought no one like to do it, but still some people have to do it right? I respect very much to the people who do this jobs for us, and to me, no job is not important, so we don't have the rights to judge what is good to do or not. Anyway, that was years ago, the chance to learn performing arts was long gone.
Haha, just reminded by Xanga that I have been a member for 2004 days, that's a lot isn't it?
Dig this video out from youtube, showing Cathay Pacific planes since 'stone-age'. The Lockheed L1011 was the first plane I flew on when I was 10 year-old, it was CX765 to Saigon, the flight number remains the same today, which I sometimes handle. Some of the older 747s are still in service today, like the B-HOO, and B-HKT, they use to be VR-HOO and VR-HKT. The song in the clip Cathay use it in its commerical during the 1970s, and used as the music played during landing. This also reminds me a lot of the time when I use to take school bus, travelling along the Island Eastern Corridor, watching planes landing on the opposite side of the harhour. Amazing airline, Cathay Pacific, the name taken from the old name of China - Cathay.
My most favourite musical, it made me thinking of going into professional performing arts industry at the time of watching it. I watched it during my high school, and in the very grand London Victoria Apollo theatre. It was the first time I step into professional theatres, flying sets from 5 stories high, fully machanised stage sets, amazed me when I was about 17.
It is very sad that the show left the Apollo theatre a few years ago, the above clip shows the last performance, with lead principle actor, James Gillan, acting as 'Rusty' singing 'Starlight Express', then onto 'Light at the end of the tunnel'. Leading towards to end of the show, the first curtain call, and encore, and etc. Notice that all the actors wear rollers on the show, which made this show very unique.
Yet again, as a listed company, Cathay Pacific has posted a profit warning for the second time in it's history. The loss is estimated to be 2.8 billion HK dollars, that's enough to buy 5 to 6 new A380s. This is why they want to sell their 772s as soon as they can to recover some money. I last heard that Cathay has about 5.8 billion dollars of flowing cash. So that's quite a large porportion of loss. All together, the market value of CX is about 46.0 billion dollars, so I guess CX won't be folding up anything soon.
Cathay has resumed recruiting despite the warning, posting some technical and engineering positions. When will my favourite IOC Controller will be hiring again? Haha. I know for well that technical jobs are the ones that will be less affected by the global economy and the performance of the company, because they will hire when they need it, not based on how much money the company is making. Should I turn back to work in engineering for the stability? Should I continue in operation? Can I continue to do something I like to do? Since I am on holiday, I am thinking all of this.
